So what I mentioned in my last post, turned out to be a false alarm, but Saturday, after a long day at the softball field, I came home to find a turtle in the process of laying her eggs. I was so excited. I gave her her privacy and went about my duties of watering my gardens. By the time I had finished, she was just covering the hole. I picked her up and returned her to the pond, and then made a feeble attempt at a makeshift cage over the top of the covered nest. So far, so good. Nothing has dug them up, so maybe, just maybe, I will see baby turtles in a few weeks.
